Now I might be awfully drunk and in the mood for an arguement, but I was pretty appalled by the article in The Herald.
Fair enough that the author is a big fan of Alex and SAHB, but jeezus, it was awfully over the top with its 'Glasgow is a disgrace for not acknowledging the great man'.
I'm not denying that Alex Harvey was a bit different, but I'm sorry to say that not all of us thought he was 'Sensational'.
Christ, he's best known for a karaoke version of a Tom Jones hit...... |

To be honest, I can't really make a proper judgement on him as I don't know enough of his stuff. Maybe I should. MY father-in-law did a CD for me but I've not had a chance to listen to it yet - so many CDs, so little time.
The cynic in me suggests the article was written to publicise the book further... _________________ www.jocknroll.co.uk - The Great Jock 'n' Roll Album - Have You Voted? |

Agree that the article is over the top although I'm slightly more of a fan than vinyl villain. Was just glad to see any article on the band. Sorry not to have been old enough to see the original tour with Sydney Devine.
Is the book any good, Cat? |

So many books, so little time. My bedside table is like a mini Bodlean Library.
I've flicked through it, as you do, and I'm looking forward to reading it but I'm sure you can get it cheaper than the £14.99 cover price. It's £9.89 on Amazon.
Actually, I've done Martin Kielty a disservice. Whilst checking the Amazon price of Big Noise I see there's another book under his name called the SAHB Story (£8.57 paperback). I'm just an old cynic and getting older and more cynical by the day. Not that I'm bothered, I sent him an e-mail asking him for his votes and even registered on his message board to plug the site and we haven't heard a peep out of him. _________________ www.jocknroll.co.uk - The Great Jock 'n' Roll Album - Have You Voted? |
