Right, first things first. On this Monday (22nd January) it will be 10 years
since Billy McKenzie died. Do yourself a favour and put Party Fears Two on that day. LOUD. The song is still number one in our chart, the only song to hold the same position since we started.
Elsewhere, a lot of shuffling this week with no massive leaps and The Blue Nile retake the number 4 spot. Loads of votes for songs in the higher reaches of the chart this week and whilst the most votes this week were for Dignity, the fact that a lot of the songs around it polled strongly too means it only moves up one space. Equally, we have to feel sorry for the Trashcans: they equal their most votes in a week figure but still drop a place!
Better week for another Reader as Eddi jumps 11 big places as do the Kane brothers at number 60. Biggest move in the Top 30 is Ra Minds.
Only new entry is H²O’s long overdue debut in our chart. Frank O’Hare from the band popped into virtual HQ this week; he voted for himself, we told him that as the song got to number 17 he was our biggest pop star voter yet (chartwise that is, there’s been some 6 footers in here of late) and he went away chuffed. So when is that second album coming out Frank?
Oh and Debbie. What have you done? Marti Pellow is up to 66 this week. This is your doing Debbie. It’s all your fault and I hope you’re pleased. Come to think of it you probably are!
It’s not my fault see the boss
