Post-Chart Analysis from Dave in the Stats Bunker:

Well, that’s the first batch counted and loads of you were very quick off the mark so we can get a Top 50 already.

So who’s winning? Well, most of the top 20 were fighting it out but "Psychocandy" pulled out in front as the last batch came in. It’s ahead but not in the way that "Party Fears 2" was ahead at some points in the Singles poll. The Blue Nile, Simple Minds and The Proclaimers have 2 albums each in the Top 20 and might well have got the top spot were it not for the fact that clearly no one, with one vote for Darklands as the exception, rates any of the other Mary Chain albums.

Clearly Belle and Sebastian are an albums band rather than a singles band and they dominate the first chart with 4 albums making appearances. Nice to see that the 80s are still popular but not as much as in our singles chart and also great to see people like The Silencers, Aberfeldy, Kevin McDermott Orchestra, Incredible String Band, John Martyn and Dick Gaughan, who never even came close to the Singles poll, getting their names on the board.

One thing does strike me however. 9 of my Top 10 are in this Top 10 and all of my choices are within the Top 12. Am I getting too obvious?

Keep them coming!

How daft is Phil Menzies anyway?

Dave, Stats Bunker 14 April 2007 (NEW CHART: Next Weekend)
